How to interpret the five tests of hepatitis B

The five tests for hepatitis B include hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis B surface antibody, hepatitis B e antigen, hepatitis B e antibody and hepatitis B core antibody, of which hepatitis B surface antigen is the shell protein of hepatitis B virus, which is only antigenic and not infectious and can be used as the initial screening for hepatitis B. If the hepatitis B surface antigen is positive, the hepatitis B virus HBV-DNA quantification can be further checked to clarify the hepatitis B virus carriage status. Hepatitis B surface antibody is a protective antibody. When hepatitis B surface antibody is positive, it has a protective effect on the body, and the higher the titer of hepatitis B surface antibody, the better the protection effect on the body. The higher the titer of hepatitis B e antigen, the more active the hepatitis B replication is. When hepatitis B e antibody is positive, it generally indicates that the hepatitis B virus is replicating and is on a downward trend. A positive hepatitis B core antibody indicates that one is or has been infected with the hepatitis B virus.
