Thymoma 3cm2cm means that the size of thymoma is 3cm×2cm.
Thymoma is caused by excessive proliferation of thymic epithelial cells, mostly located in the anterior superior mediastinum, divided into cortical, medullary and mixed types, oval shaped shadow or lobular, with clear margins, mostly benign, with intact peritoneum, but clinically it is often regarded as potentially malignant, easy to infiltrate the nearby tissues and organs, and about 15% of the patients are combined with myasthenia gravis.
Once found, thymoma should be resected in time, as long as there are no other contraindications, it should be treated by surgery. Even if thymoma is asymptomatic, it will grow gradually, press adjacent organs, and even develop malignant changes or secondary infection, thus it is appropriate to adopt surgery.
Thymoma is prone to malignant transformation, and if malignant thymoma invades into adjacent organs and cannot be removed or has distant metastasis, surgery is contraindicated, and radiotherapy and other treatments should be chosen according to the pathological results.
