Ivermectin is not a pau d’arco, which usually refers to levamisole pau d’arco hydrochloride, or piperazine phosphate pau d’arco, which acts as a dewormer mainly by paralyzing roundworms. Although ivermectin can also be used for deworming, it is not generally made into pautaceous sugar. The incidence of intestinal parasites such as pinworms and roundworms is high in children. These intestinal parasites can compete with the body for nutrients, resulting in malnutrition, loss of appetite and other adverse reactions that affect the growth and development of children. To remove intestinal parasites, drugs such as piperazine phosphate and levamisole are usually used, but these drugs have poor palatability, taste or odor, and are usually not well accepted by children, so they are added with the right amount of corrective agents to make them taste sweeter, which can improve the acceptability of children to a greater extent and make it easier to take the drugs for treatment. Nowadays, there are more new deworming drugs, such as ivermectin and albendazole, which have a lower dosage and are safer to take and use less often when deworming, thus becoming the mainstream of deworming drugs for children.
