What happens when you raise and lower your head?

When you raise and lower your head, you experience dizziness symptoms, which are considered in two ways. The first one, is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, also known as otolithiasis. Dizziness caused by otoliths occurs during changes in head position, accompanied by visual rotation. The dizziness lasts for a very short time, usually less than a minute, and when it is present, a fluttering of the eyes can be observed. The diagnosis can be confirmed by positional testing, and treatment is mainly by manual repositioning. The second type is cervical spondylosis. The symptoms of dizziness occur when the head is lowered and raised. Long-term improper posture, when the blood vessels in the neck are strained during the process of raising and lowering the head, especially the posterior circulation vertebral artery, after being strained, can lead to symptoms of insufficient blood supply to the brain, causing dizziness. In this case, it is recommended to consult the orthopedic department of the hospital to check the neck CT or neck MRI, and after the diagnosis is confirmed, traction, massage and small acupuncture can be carried out for treatment.
