Are Tumor Marker Tests Accurate

Tumor marker test can not be completely accurate and cannot judge a certain disease in isolation, the test only has certain value in the screening of tumors, efficacy monitoring, etc., and needs to be combined with the clinical manifestations and signs for exclusion. Tumor markers are substances that are synthesized or released by tumor cells themselves, or produced and elevated by the body in response to tumor cells. These substances are usually found in blood, cells, tissues or body fluids, and can usually reflect the existence and growth of tumors, and have certain value in early screening of tumors, efficacy, recurrence monitoring and prognosis determination. However, since some tumor markers can be elevated under special physiological conditions in normal human body or in certain benign diseases, tumor markers cannot be completely accurate yet. Patients with elevated tumor markers need to further improve other examinations, and the final diagnosis needs to be combined with pathological examinations. If abnormal tumor markers are found in daily physical examination, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals to avoid delaying the condition.
