Coughing in the morning and at night is mostly seen in respiratory infections, and respiratory allergic diseases. Respiratory infections are mainly viral, bacterial, and mycoplasma infections, while respiratory allergic diseases include allergic rhinitis, allergic laryngitis, allergic bronchitis, cough variant asthma, and classic bronchial asthma. Cough in the morning and evening most often occurs because of the increased sensitivity of the nasal cavity to the environment, if the lower respiratory tract of bronchial asthma, also in the morning and evening more prone to frequent coughing, at this time the bronchial vagus nerve is more excited, easy to make the bronchial tube constriction, inducing the body to appear tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, dry cough. So for morning and evening cough, we should do chest imaging, such as chest radiographs and chest CT to rule out specific lung diseases, if the imaging is normal, we should mainly consider allergic cough caused by morning and evening cough aggravation. If the imaging is normal, the main consideration is allergic cough causing morning and evening cough exacerbation. If the lungs suggest abnormal inflammatory changes, anti-infective treatment should be given, and blood tests and pulmonary function tests should be done if necessary.
