Sudden swelling of the lower eyelid of one eye may be caused by contact dermatitis, blepharitis, and blepharospasmal cysts.
1. Contact dermatitis: it may be due to the patient’s contact with pollen, dust and other allergens, the skin of the lower eyelid metamorphosis caused by the patient may appear skin swelling, itching and other symptoms.
2. Blepharitis: mainly due to inflammation caused by various pathogenic bacterial infections, when inflammation occurs in the lower eyelid of one eye, due to the local stimulation of inflammation, swelling can occur.
3. Blepharophalangeal cyst: it is idiopathic aseptic chronic granulomatous inflammation of the blepharophalangeal glands, mostly due to the obstruction of blepharophalangeal gland outlets caused by a variety of reasons, and the secretions of the glands are retained in the eyelids, causing chronic irritation to the surrounding tissues. Patients may present with a round lump under the eyelid skin, which is usually painless.
