In some patients, the gum swelling after wisdom teeth extraction is not serious and the trauma is relatively small, the swelling is usually shorter and may gradually subside in about 3~5 days.
Some people are more obviously traumatized and need to be cut, sutured, and deboned, in which case the swelling may take longer to subside, and may take 5~7 days or even longer, and some people may need about 10 days for the swelling to subside completely. It needs to depend on the trauma and individual physical fitness.
If there is obvious swelling, local ice packs can be applied appropriately within 48h to inhibit the exudation of tissue fluid and avoid aggravation of the situation.
