Is HER2 negative a good thing or a bad thing

HER2 negative is good.

HER2 results can be used as an aid in determining the prognosis of cancer, and HER2 negativity indicates that cancer patients have a better prognosis and a higher rate of survival in later stages. Therefore, it is a good thing.

HER2 belongs to a cell-derived oncogene. If HER2 is not overexpressed in the patient’s body, the result will show negative, which is a good thing, indicating that the patient’s prognosis is better than that of a HER2-positive one.

If the oncogene and its protein products are overexpressed and amplified in the patient’s tumor, the result will be HER2 positive, in which case the prognosis is poorer, and the patient may have to follow the doctor’s instructions to take oral treatment with targeted drugs against the HER2 gene, such as lapatinib. If treatment is not timely or the disease continues to worsen, the patient’s life expectancy may be shortened.

It is recommended that HER2-negative cancer patients should receive regular treatment as soon as possible to avoid aggravation of the disease due to delayed treatment.
