Reasons for high sternum

The sternum is the bone on the front side of the human chest in the midline. There are two possible reasons for the sternum to appear elevated. First, if a normal adult, the sternum is higher than and more prominent, it is possible that the shank joint above the sternum, which is the sternal angle of the human body, has a slight abnormality in the angle, or the fibrocartilage around the shank joint is flaccid, or the fibrocartilage on the outside of the sternum is injured, inflamed, or the shape changes for other reasons can lead to a relatively high sternum. Most of this situation is caused by strain, trauma, and acquired movement habits. Second, some minors, especially infants and young children, should be alert to prevent suffering from rickets once the phenomenon of high sternum appears. Should promptly check the blood vitamin D as well as calcium content, go to the regular hospital to ask the doctor for diagnosis and timely treatment.
