What happened to the hard lump in the baby’s breast?

Infants with breast lumps may have breast lumps shortly after birth, especially within two weeks of age, due to the influence of high estrogen levels in the mother’s body during pregnancy. This is a normal phenomenon and does not require medication, and can recede to normal on its own. The breast lumps disappear, as do the pigmentation of the labia minora and vulvar discharge. If you still have breast lumps after two weeks of age or if they gradually increase in size, you should take your child to the hospital for further examination and treatment.
