Is it a serious problem for white blood cells to be around 2.6 for a long time?

The condition is more serious when the white blood cell count remains around 2.6 x 10^9/L for a long time.
White blood cells mainly play the role of anti-inflammatory and immune defense in the human body. When the white blood cell count is lower than normal, the body’s immunity will be reduced accordingly, which will increase the risk of infection by pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and fungi.
The normal value of leukocyte count ranges from (4~10)×10^9/L. Leukocyte count maintained at around 2.6×10^9/L for a long period of time is considered to be reduced, at which time the body’s immunity is obviously lowered, and the risk of infections is higher, and even serious infectious complications occur, so the condition is more serious.
Causes of leukopenia include autoimmune abnormalities (such as systemic lupus erythematosus, dry syndrome and other diseases), splenomegaly, viral hepatitis, thyroid function abnormalities, Helicobacter pylori infections, hematologic disorders (e.g., aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, leukocytosis, multiple myeloma) and so on.
It is recommended that the patient should consult the hematology department in a timely manner, complete the relevant examinations to clarify the cause of the disease, and treat the cause of the disease under the guidance of the physician in order to improve the white blood cell count.
