What’s that growth on the pancreas on the ultrasound?

Ultrasound found that the pancreas grows something called pancreatic occupation, the possible causes are pancreatic cancer, pancreatic pseudocysts, pancreatic endocrine tumors and so on. 1. Pancreatic cancer: pancreatic cancer is the most common primary malignant tumor of pancreas, with very high degree of malignancy, and it is difficult to diagnose in early stage, so most of the patients are already in the late stage when they are diagnosed, and the prognosis is very unsatisfactory, with less than 10% of patients’ 5-year survival rate. 2. Pancreatic pseudocysts: Pancreatic pseudocysts are mostly secondary to leakage of pancreatic fluid caused by acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic trauma, surgery, etc., and the fluid is wrapped up by hyperplastic fibrous tissue to form cystic mass. The inner layer of the cyst wall is not covered by epithelial cells, so it is called pseudocyst. 3. Pancreatic endocrine tumor: Pancreatic endocrine tumor is a kind of tumor with different endocrine functions, including insulinoma, gastrinoma, growth hormone tumor, growth inhibitory tumor and so on. When pancreatic occupation is found, patients are recommended to go to hospital as soon as possible to get a clear picture of the nature of the mass and get targeted treatment.
