Fungal otitis externa

  From time to time, some patients go to the hospital with itchy ears, ear canal fluids after pulling out ears, and sometimes pain, and use some antibiotic ear drops on their own, but their condition does not improve, but worsens, so they should think about the possibility of fungal infection in the ear canal, and should go to a regular hospital for serious examination.  Fungal infection of the ear canal can occur at any age, but is more common in adults. It is a chronic or subacute infectious disease, caused by the growth of fungi in the external ear canal, and is mostly confined to the outer ear. It is most commonly found in people who use antibiotics, chemotherapy and radiotherapy for malignant tumors, and glucocorticoid use for a long time or repeatedly. The fungus that causes the disease is mostly Aspergillus; several issues need to be clarified before treating this disease: 1. whether the diagnosis is correct, the diagnosis can be clarified by finding the fungus under the microscope of the ear canal secretion smear or culturing the fungus; 2. stop using antibiotics, which can aggravate the fungal infection; 3. use topical antifungal drugs correctly, the ear canal should be carefully cleaned first, and then the drugs should be used; the following treatments are recommended under the premise of clear diagnosis The following treatment methods are recommended: carefully clean the external auditory canal and mastoid cavity, aspirate the middle ear cavity secretions, use 3% hydrogen peroxide to clean, the middle ear cavity and mastoid cavity can be dripped with 0.2% fluconazole solution three times a day for 2 weeks; those with ear canal fungal disease can have 1 small gauze with 0.2% fluconazole invaded inside the ear canal twice a day for 2 weeks; those with mixed infection can be treated with antibiotics appropriately.
