Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, how to treat

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can be treated with general therapy, drug therapy and surgery.
1. General treatment: Patients are advised to avoid exertion, strenuous exercise, and drugs that enhance myocardial contractility and reduce cardiac load.
2. Drug therapy: the following drugs are recommended to be used under the guidance of a doctor. beta-blockers, such as metoprolol and atenolol, can improve ventricular diastolic filling and symptoms. Calcium channel blockers, such as verapamil, can improve ventricular diastolic filling and local myocardial blood flow.
3. Surgery: Surgery can be used to treat large pressure differences in the left ventricular outflow tract when conservative treatment is ineffective. Common modalities include percutaneous septal myocardial ablation and septal myocardial resection.
4. Prevention of sudden death. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy carries a risk of sudden death, which requires risk assessment and, if necessary, implantation of an ICD to prevent sudden death.
Patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy are advised to go to the hospital for timely treatment.
