Must wisdom teeth be extracted?

Wisdom teeth do not necessarily need to be extracted, and whether they need to be removed depends mainly on the state of the wisdom teeth themselves. If the wisdom teeth grow in the correct direction, the upper and lower jaw wisdom teeth have a good occlusal relationship and can play a chewing role, they may not be extracted. In addition, there are also wisdom teeth that do not grow out and are completely buried in the alveolar bone without any relationship with the neighboring teeth and do not press on the neighboring teeth, which can also be retained but need to be observed on regular follow-up. If the wisdom tooth is blocked, such as the wisdom tooth grows horizontally, it is easy to top the neck of the front teeth, which will cause the front teeth to decay or even cause pulpitis; some wisdom teeth cannot be fully erupted, only half erupted, which will easily cause pericoronitis due to the residual food residue, and such wisdom teeth need to be extracted. Before wisdom tooth removal, you need to go to the hospital dental department to take dental film to check the specific situation of wisdom tooth. In addition, after wisdom tooth extraction, it is advisable to eat warm, cool and soft food, prohibit spicy and stimulating food, and avoid strenuous exercise. Antibiotics can be used prophylactically and oral painkillers can be taken if necessary after tooth extraction.
