How COPD should be prevented

COPD prevention mainly includes the following aspects. Firstly, the most important and economical measure is to quit smoking; secondly, to control occupational dust and pollution, and to minimize the inhalation of harmful gases and particles; thirdly, to actively prevent respiratory diseases in early childhood and infancy, influenza vaccine and pneumonia vaccine may be beneficial for recurrent COPD infections; fourthly, to enhance physical fitness by appropriate exercise, and to strengthen one’s resistance. Fifth, for people with high risk factors of COPD, they should have regular lung function tests for early detection, diagnosis of COPD and intervention.
