Is bleeding from a cracked lung dangerous?

Bleeding from a fissure in the lung is very dangerous and is a critical condition that needs to be resuscitated in a timely manner, or else a hemopneumothorax may easily occur, and ultimately death due to asphyxiation.
Bleeding from a fissure in the lung belongs to pulmonary contusion injury, which is often caused by violent blunt force, such as car accidents, explosions, falls and so on. Cracks in the lungs are usually lung parenchymal injuries, when the cracks bleed, the blood seeps out and enters the pleural cavity, chest pain, dyspnea, pleural effusion and other symptoms, further development of the disease may be hypoxia, cyanosis, and finally develop into respiratory distress syndrome.
Patients with bleeding lung fissures should have immediate maintenance of respiratory and circulatory function and active management of complications. If the patient develops a pulmonary fissure he should be given immediate mechanical ventilation, along with pain relief and sedation, and most patients will require emergency surgery to stop the bleeding.
Bleeding from a cracked lung is often life-threatening, so it is important to get to the hospital as soon as it occurs to avoid delaying treatment.
