Are leflunomide tablets a hormone drug?

Leflunomide tablets are not hormonal drugs. The common glucocorticoids include prednisone acetate, methylprednisolone, betamethasone, Depo-Provera, hydrocortisone, and dexamethasone. Leflunomide tablets, however, are a slow-acting drug to improve the condition, mainly used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and lupus nephritis in adults, but also for the treatment of herpetiform aspergillosis, connective tissue disease, and Wegener’s granulomatosis. It is administered as a regular oral loading dose of 50 mg/day, which is changed to a maintenance dose of 20 mg/day after 3 days, and can be changed to 10 mg/day after remission. For lupus nephritis, the dosage is 20-40mg/day and may be reduced when the disease is in remission. The main adverse effects include pruritus, dose-dependent dermatitis, reversible alopecia and elevated aminotransferases, as well as gastrointestinal adverse effects such as anorexia, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. In addition, some reports mention that it can cause interstitial pneumonia and liver fibrosis.
