How to exercise after rotator cuff surgery

Rehabilitation exercises after rotator cuff surgery include two aspects, shoulder joint mobility recovery and muscle strength recovery around the shoulder joint. It can be generally divided into five stages: 1. 0~3 weeks after surgery, avoid sudden movement and frequent activities of the affected limb, perform passive or assisted joint mobility exercises within the specific limitations of the surgeon, 3~5 times a day. 2. 4-6 weeks after surgery, strength exercises can be transitioned from active assisted joint mobility exercises to gentle and controlled active contraction of the deltoid and rotator cuff muscles. 3. 7~12 weeks after surgery, the main focus is to eliminate, reduce pain and inflammatory response, improve shoulder joint mobility, can be supine arm active lifting to 90 degrees exercises. 4. 13~20 weeks after surgery, flexibility exercises can be further increased to reduce the tension of the posterior joint capsule and rotator cuff caused by surgical trauma and braking. 5. 21~24 weeks after surgery, training to restore muscle strength and flexibility, you can try to lift the hands over the head movement training. Postoperative rotator cuff exercises are recommended to be performed under the guidance of physicians or rehabilitation therapists to avoid injury caused by incorrect movements.
