Swelling and pain in the screw bone of the foot should be considered whether there has been a sprain of the ankle. Even a minor sprain can lead to swelling and pain in the ankle joint and requires conservative treatment. If the sprain is painful and swollen and requires bed rest, the ankle can be elevated and fixed, and cold compresses can be applied to the affected area with an ice pack within 24 hours, and then hot compresses can be started after 24 hours to help remove the bruises. If the ankle swelling is severe and painful, and dislocation or fracture is suspected, you need to go to the hospital to improve X-ray examination to determine the severity of the injury and clarify the diagnosis. If there is no obvious displacement, you need to use external fixation and braking with plaster, elevate the limb to help reduce swelling, and use blood-stasis activating drugs. If the fracture is obviously displaced, timely repositioning or internal fixation should be done to ensure the continuity of the fracture. It takes at least 3 months for the ankle fracture to heal, and the x-ray should be reviewed regularly during the recovery period.
