Consequences of taking mifepristone for breastfeeding

You should not breastfeed your child after taking mifepristone. Because this drug is a progestin antagonist, and because it damages the liver, if you take it and then breastfeed your child, it can enter the child’s body through the breast milk and may cause damage to the child’s body. If you take this drug while breastfeeding, you must breastfeed your child only 3 days after you stop taking it, if not more than 3 days, the drug has not been metabolized in your body. Therefore, if this drug is used for abortion, you must stop breastfeeding for more than 1 week before you can breastfeed your child, and it is generally not recommended to use the drug for abortion during breastfeeding to avoid affecting the child’s milk.
