It’s been a few months since I had radiotherapy for squamous differentiated carcinoma of the vocal cords, and I’m still coughing.

After several months of radiotherapy and surgery for moderately differentiated squamous carcinoma of vocal folds, coughing is mostly considered to be caused by ineffective treatment and organ damage.
1. Ineffective treatment: radiotherapy and surgery are not effective for all moderately differentiated squamous carcinoma of the vocal folds, and the disease may recur or metastasize after the treatment is finished, and metastasis of bronchial tubes, lungs and other organs may occur, which may lead to coughing and sputum coughing, etc. It is recommended to complete CT examination and adjust the treatment plan.
2. Organ damage: In the process of radiotherapy or surgery, moderately differentiated squamous carcinoma of vocal folds may cause damage to surrounding nerves and organs, which may leave sequelae and lead to coughing, which may disappear naturally after a period of recovery for mild patients, but it is difficult to recover for serious patients.
The prognosis of moderately differentiated squamous carcinoma of the vocal folds should be analyzed according to the clinical stage, surgical condition, sensitivity to radiotherapy, etc. Even after the treatment is finished, it still needs to be reviewed regularly to find out the problems in time. If there is no obvious abnormality in the review, it may be the adverse reaction produced by the treatment process, so go to the hospital for consultation in time.
