A maxillary sinus cyst will rupture naturally at a certain point, but it will not heal on its own, so the number of times it will rupture is inconclusive.
Rupture of maxillary sinus cysts is a common phenomenon. Smaller cysts have no obvious symptoms, while larger cysts may cause facial pain, swelling and discomfort. When a maxillary sinus cyst reaches a certain level, it will rupture on its own and the cyst fluid will flow out naturally.
If the cyst is infected, yellow pus will appear, and sometimes there will be a bad smell. After the cyst ruptures, the swelling in the face decreases. Although the cyst ruptures but the cyst wall does not disappear, it is easy to recur, the cyst will not heal on its own, and need to undergo a maxillary sinus cystectomy.
A ruptured maxillary sinus cyst is not a sign of healing and requires surgical removal, which can be done by visiting a dentist.
