Does hernia surgery affect genital function? Does general anesthesia affect the brain?

What is the approximate cost for a single-port lumpectomy? The total cost is over $5,000. Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery requires general anesthesia, will it affect the child’s brain and physical development, can you explain the risks of general anesthesia? Many parents are concerned about this, and they can accept the surgery but not general anesthesia. In fact, anesthesia is very safe nowadays. Our hospital uses general anesthesia with a laryngeal mask for children’s hernia, which reduces the stimulation of the organs and results in a fast recovery and high safety after surgery. Because the operation takes just a few minutes, the anesthesia time is also short. As long as the brain cells are not deprived of oxygen, there is no effect on the brain cells, and normal anesthesia will not cause harm to the child. Will the hernia surgery affect the reproductive function of the boy? The difference between traditional surgery and laparoscopic surgery is that traditional open surgery involves cutting open the inguinal canal layer by layer, then looking for the spermatic cord to find the hernia sac and peeling it off from the spermatic cord, so it is prone to injury, especially if the hernia sac is not easy to find and more likely to have side injuries. The laparoscopic surgery is different. Under direct vision, the hernia ring opening and the spermatic cord can be seen clearly without dissection or searching, and a thread is threaded from outside the abdominal cavity under the illumination of the laparoscope, and a high ligature is made along the hernia ring opening, and the knot is tied outside the abdominal cavity, leaving no thread in the abdominal cavity smoothly and avoiding adhesions. The operation is simple, less traumatic, and the whole ligation process usually takes less than 5 minutes, and only operated under laparoscopy to avoid maximum collateral damage. There is no need to separate the spermatic cord, and complications such as postoperative scrotal hematoma and plasmacytoma can also be avoided. Some patients online have asked about the patch. Is this patch suitable for hernia surgery in small children? Basically, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery is performed in children under the age of 10 without the need for a patch, because the etiology of hernia in children is different from that of adults, only the sphincter is not closed and there is usually no weakness in the inguinal region, so only a high ligation of the hernia sac is sufficient. in children aged 10-15 years, if the hernia is particularly large and tall, weakness in the inguinal region cannot be excluded and biological patch repair should be considered to avoid recurrence. However, if the hernia is bilateral, it is possible to consider laparoscopic high ligation of the hernia sac without patching after obtaining the parents’ opinion, and it is not too late to do open patch repair in case of recurrence.
