For patients with early-stage open-angle glaucoma, it is best to keep the intraocular pressure below 18 mmHg. Open-angle glaucoma is a serious threat to human visual health. Due to its insidious onset, it is difficult to detect early, and most patients with early-stage open-angle glaucoma are found incidentally during medical checkups. The target intraocular pressure (IOP) for treatment of different severity of open-angle glaucoma is different. In early-stage open-angle glaucoma, IOP usually needs to be maintained below 18 mmHg, in intermediate-stage open-angle glaucoma, IOP usually needs to be maintained below 15 mmHg, and in advanced-stage open-angle glaucoma, it is desirable to reduce IOP to below 12 mmHg. In addition to monitoring and controlling IOP, patients need regular follow-up to observe changes in the visual field and fundus, and further reduction of IOP if the condition cannot be controlled.
