Pre-symptomatic manifestations of esophagitis

Esophagitis, or esophagitis, is an inflammatory condition in which the esophageal mucosa becomes edematous and congested as a result of irritation by different factors. The most common of these is reflux esophagitis caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease. The following are the manifestations of pre-esophagitis: 1. heartburn: the burning sensation behind the sternum, as if drinking too hot water as an irritating sensation, some people will feel the symptoms obvious after lying down or abdominal exertion, and the symptoms disappear after sitting up. 2. Acid reflux: Acid reflux refers to the reflux of acidic gastric contents into the mouth through the esophagus; it is a typical symptom of gastroesophageal reflux disease. 3, bleeding and anemia: can occur in severe esophagitis, mostly chronic bleeding in small amounts; long-term or massive bleeding can lead to iron deficiency anemia; 4, dysphagia: usually caused by esophageal spasm or esophageal stricture due to inflammation. 5. other symptoms: belching, regurgitation, epigastric distention, nausea, and choking at night are common and even affect sleep. Esophagitis should be promptly diagnosed and treated. If long-term esophageal mucosal injury fails to heal for a long time, it can lead to esophageal scar formation and stricture. The damage of reflux can also be the squamous epithelium of the lower esophagus becomes columnar epithelium, called Barrett’s esophagus, which has an increased chance of esophageal adenocarcinoma. Involvement of the esophageal mucosa and blood vessels can result in vomiting blood and blood in the stool.
