Patients with reflux esophagitis can usually be cured in 1~2 months after active treatment, and it may take longer if the patient’s symptoms are severe. Reflux esophagitis is mostly caused by factors such as decreased anti-reflux capacity of the esophagus and decreased clearance capacity, and patients mostly show symptoms such as acid reflux, heartburn, and retrosternal pain. Reflux esophagitis is mostly treated by taking medications, commonly used drugs include proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole, lansoprazole, etc.), prokinetic drugs (such as domperidone, mosapride, etc.), mucosal protection drugs (aluminum thioglycollate gel) and so on. Most of the patients can get significant improvement of their symptoms after taking the medicine for 1~2 months, and achieve the effect of cure. Patients with severe disease may take longer. Patients with reflux esophagitis can also be treated by surgery, mostly anti-reflux surgery, such as laparoscopic fundoplication. Patients usually feel better after 3~5 days after the surgery, and are basically cured after the wound heals. Patients with reflux esophagitis are advised to seek timely medical attention and actively receive treatment. The medication should be taken strictly according to the doctor’s prescription, and should not be used on its own, so as not to delay or even aggravate the condition.
