How to differentiate Parkinson’s disease (PD) from progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP)?

  (1) Bilateral symmetrical Parkinson’s sign
  Asymmetrical symptoms on both sides at onset
  (2) Early gait disturbance
  Gait is rarely affected at the onset of the disease
  (3) Early onset of falls in the course of the disease
  Late onset of falls
  (4) Early onset of postural reflex disorder
  Early postural reflexes are normal
  (5) Broad-based gait
  Walking in a broken gait
  (6) Trunk in extended position
  Forward flexion of the body during walking
  (7) Walking with arm swing
  Early disappearance of arm swing
  (8) Surprised expression
  Dull expression
  (9)Transient eyes 3-5 times/min
  Transient eyes 10 to 14 times/min
  (10)Resting tremor is uncommon
  Resting tremor is common
  (11) Tonicity of trunk muscles is more pronounced than that of extremities
