A positive HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) antibody is highly suspicious for AIDS, but further testing is needed for confirmation.
HIV antibody tests include screening tests and supplemental tests. Screening tests include enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, chemiluminescent immunoassay and rapid test.
If the screening test is positive, you should go to the hospital for further examination. You can repeat the examination with the original reagent and another reagent with different principles and different manufacturers, and if there is still a positive reaction, you can also conduct a supplementary HIV antibody test.
If the diagnosis of infection is confirmed, appropriate treatment measures should be taken as early as possible, mainly to inhibit the replication of the virus, so that the patient can obtain a normal life expectancy.
