Multiple small pulmonary nodules good or bad

Determining whether multiple small lung nodules are good or bad requires evaluating each nodule individually and also noting the possibility of extrapulmonary tumor metastasis. It is not possible to generalize that multiple nodules in the lungs are good or that a single nodule is good. Multiple nodules in the lungs are considered to be good if more than two nodules are present in the lungs, and small nodules are those between 5mm-10mm. For patients with multiple small nodules in the lungs, each small nodule needs to be evaluated individually, with or without enhancement, size, density, and margins to assess the benign or malignant tendency of the nodule. There are two types of multiple lung nodules, intra-pulmonary metastases leading to multiple nodules and intra-pulmonary metastases from extra-pulmonary tumors leading to multiple nodules, both of which are malignant. If the multiple nodules in the lungs are old lesions, then usually no treatment is needed, only dynamic observation. Such multiple nodules are the result of inflammation and can be treated with empirical anti-inflammatory therapy, which usually results in the disappearance of the nodules after 3-6 months. Diffuse nodules of more than 10 are generally considered likely to be caused by metastatic extrathoracic malignancy or active infection. As long as there are nodules in the lungs, either single or multiple nodules, bronchopulmonary cancer cannot be excluded. Therefore, it is not possible to generalize whether multiple small lung nodules are good or bad.
