In patients with persistent runny nose, most of them are due to inflammation of the nasal cavity and sinuses. There are two most common clinical causes that lead to recurrent runny nose, namely allergic rhinitis attacks and rhinitis-sinusitis attacks. Patients with allergic rhinitis tend to experience paroxysmal sneezing and nasal discharge of a large amount of clear nasal discharge, accompanied by nasal itching and nasal congestion. In terms of treatment, patients need symptomatic anti-allergy treatment, as well as attention to exercise. Sinusitis, on the other hand, is mainly caused by recurrent inflammatory infections, resulting in congestion, edema and exudation of the mucous membrane of the sinuses, which results in a large amount of yellow nasal discharge, nasal congestion, facial swelling and even headache. In terms of treatment, symptomatic anti-inflammatory treatment, nasal sinus irrigation, etc. are required. In severe cases or with nasal polyps, surgery is required.
