Abstract: The child was seen for abnormal walking posture. Neurological physical examination showed central damage, blood picture showed elevated eosinophils, brain MRI showed widening of the third ventricle, brain demyelination, and cerebral white matter hypoplasia, which is typical of cerebral palsy. The child’s abnormal walking condition has improved and is basically the same as that of a normal person.
Basic information】Male, 3 years old
Disease Type】Spastic Cerebral Palsy
Hospital】Beijing Tiantan Hospital
Consultation time】November 2016
Treatment plan】Oral medication (Eperisone Hydrochloride Tablets) + rehabilitation training
Treatment Period】2 years
【Treatment Result】The abnormal walking condition has been improved, basically no difference with normal people
I. Initial consultation
The neurological examination showed that the patient had central damage, lower limb joints were damaged, and both feet were turned inward. After interviewing the child’s family, we learned that the child had neonatal cerebral hypoxia at birth. Based on the child’s symptoms and examination results, the initial diagnosis was spastic cerebral palsy.
II. Treatment
The child was given oral medication to reduce muscle tone and relax muscles, and rehabilitation training to correct muscle strength, as well as training for external rotation and internal rotation of the upper limbs and postural correction. The child’s family was instructed to assist the child in swimming training, and the child’s hands were asked to squeeze small objects and evaluated weekly.
Treatment effect
The child’s spastic cerebral palsy led to abnormal walking posture. After one year of medication and rehabilitation training, the symptoms of abnormal walking posture were relieved, and the parents were relieved that the child was playing with children. He can take care of himself.
IV. Notes
After 2 years of treatment and rehabilitation, the child’s symptoms of spastic cerebral palsy have improved greatly, and the child can finally play like other children. In the daily treatment of the child, parents should follow the doctor’s prescription for the child’s rehabilitation training, and record and give feedback to the doctor on time. At the same time, parents should ensure daily nutrition, give the child high quality protein and high fiber food, and the child should eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.
V. Personal insight
Spastic cerebral palsy is still a relatively serious disease and is more common in clinical practice. The child in this case has suffered from spastic cerebral palsy since childhood, which affects normal walking, but fortunately, after active treatment, the child’s spastic cerebral palsy symptoms have been significantly improved, and he can basically take care of himself, and has obtained satisfactory treatment results, which is the scene we most hope to see.
However, more often than not, in clinical practice, the symptoms of spastic cerebral palsy in some children are not very obvious, so parents can not pay attention to it, thinking that it is just a long way to learn to walk, thus delaying the best time for treatment. Therefore, if a child has special symptoms such as abnormal walking, parents must bring the child to the clinic in time.
