If a patient has a systolic blood pressure of 100 mmHg and a diastolic blood pressure of 60 mmHg, this is a normal blood pressure, but at a critical value, it is easy to develop hypotension. For such a patient, it is important to avoid eating or drinking on a regular basis, foods or drugs that can affect blood pressure to avoid hypotension. If the patient is taking antihypertensive medication and so develops this blood pressure, the dose of oral antihypertensive medication must be reduced. If the medication is currently taken in combination, the type of antihypertensive medication taken can be reduced and it is not recommended to lower the blood pressure too low. The ideal diastolic blood pressure range is greater than 65 mmHg and less than 80 mmHg, so this diastolic blood pressure is on the low side.
