Puberty generally ranges from 10 to 18 years of age for girls and 12 to 20 years of age for boys, with large individual differences. Puberty refers to the period when an individual’s sexual function goes from being absent to being mature, and the development of secondary sexual characteristics is an important sign of the beginning of puberty. Generally, boys develop two years later than girls, girls are usually 10-18 years old, boys are usually 12-20 years old, and puberty usually lasts 5-7 years. Physical changes during puberty are the most significant, with girls entering puberty marked by the onset of menstruation and boys entering puberty marked by spermatorrhea. Psychological changes during the puberty stage are also of particular concern, as are the three views of the adolescent child and the psychological construction of the adolescent child, to help adolescents establish a correct world view and pass through puberty smoothly.
