Facial numbness needs to identify the cause, may be trigeminal nerve sensory branch injury, stroke, trigeminal nerve sheath tumor and so on, need to be under the guidance of the doctor to carry out targeted treatment, such as drug treatment, surgical treatment and so on.
1. Trigeminal nerve sensory branch injury: trigeminal neuralgia and facial hypesthesia can occur. It is manifested as sudden onset of severe facial pain, and some patients may be accompanied by facial numbness and other symptoms. Antiepileptic drugs such as carbamazepine and phenytoin sodium can be used for treatment.
2. Stroke: It can cause symptoms of facial numbness, as well as tilting of the mouth and eyes, hemiparesis, and tongue thrust. For hemorrhagic stroke, surgery should be considered in order to repair the ruptured blood vessels; for acute ischemic stroke, thrombolytic drugs such as alteplase should be given as early as possible.
3. Trigeminal nerve sheath tumor: it can cause symptoms of facial paresthesia, mainly numbness and pain in the same side of the face. Surgery is the first choice of treatment, but also consider giving carbamazepine, gabapentin and other drugs for adjuvant treatment.
But do not rule out other factors caused by facial numbness symptoms, it is recommended that patients consult a doctor in a timely manner, by the doctor to clarify the cause, give targeted treatment, do not blindly self-medication.
