The development of myopia is related to both genetic factors and poor eye habits.
Genetic factors, myopia is a polygenic disease, and there is no way to accurately deduce the incidence of myopia in offspring based on the patient’s family history, but if both parents are highly myopic, the likelihood of myopia in offspring is much higher than that of the general population.
Poor eye habits include a variety of aspects, such as excessive use of cell phones, computers and other electronic devices, long hours of close reading or writing, use of the eyes in dark environments, use of the eyes in shaky environments, and so on, will accelerate the formation of myopia.
Patients can’t change their genetic factors, but they can prevent myopia by practicing good eye habits.
