The exact time it takes for a cold and fever to heal is related to the severity of the condition and the cause of the cold and cannot be generalized.
Common colds are usually caused by viral infections, such as adenovirus and syncytial virus. It usually lasts for 3 to 7 days and is characterized by fever, nasal congestion, sneezing, sore throat, itchy throat, runny nose, and body aches and discomforts. However, when combined with bacterial infection, the healing time may be prolonged.
Influenza may have a longer duration of illness, usually taking 7 to 10 days. There may be high fever, headache, fatigue, body aches and conjunctivitis. If the symptoms are more severe, the recovery time will be longer, and in susceptible people with weakened immune systems, serious complications may arise and the recovery time will take even longer.
If symptoms worsen or other discomforts occur, it is recommended that patients with colds go to the hospital promptly.
