How many days does it take for your face to swell after wisdom tooth extraction?

In general, the facial swelling caused by wisdom tooth removal can be gradually relieved in 3-5 days and basically return to normal in about 1 week. Due to the traumatic process of wisdom tooth extraction and the long operation time, it is easy to have pain and swelling and other uncomfortable reactions after the operation. Such pain and swelling usually start to appear 1-2 days after the operation, and gradually subside within 3-5 days, and basically return to normal in about 1 week. The degree and duration of swelling after tooth extraction is closely related to the intraoperative trauma. Compared with traditional extraction methods, minimally invasive extraction techniques are usually less traumatic, with less postoperative reaction and faster recovery. If the swelling and pain are severe after wisdom tooth extraction, oral anti-inflammatory and pain medication can be considered to accelerate the relief of symptoms and reduce the postoperative swelling reaction. It is recommended to consider intermittent cold compresses and prophylactic antibiotics for 24 hours after wisdom tooth extraction to reduce the swelling and pain reaction and prevent infection, and pay attention not to brush teeth, rinse mouth and take hot water bath for 24 hours.
