Will scar growths go away on their own?

Keloid growths usually do not disappear on their own after formation and need to be improved with the help of certain treatments.

Keloid growths are mainly caused by local trauma, surgery, inflammation and other factors. Severe cases are called keloids, which can appear as local tissue proliferation without obvious triggers and form raised keloids on the skin surface. Keloid growths are more difficult to treat, or the possibility of recurrence still exists in some patients after treatment. Early keloid growths can be treated with topical medications or with glucocorticoid intradermal injections. Longer scar growths can also be treated with surgical excision and postoperative radiation therapy. For keloid people, they need to actively take preventive measures after their injuries, such as reducing local exercise and using drugs that inhibit scar growth, such as recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor gel, or cumene cream or silicone gel preparations.

In daily life, patients are advised to pay attention to a light and nutritious diet and avoid spicy and stimulating foods, which may cause stimulation to the wound and promote scar proliferation.
