What is the role of postoperative pressure on keloid scars?

For keloid scars, continued local pressure after surgical excision and radiotherapy can have the following effects: 1) to promote the evolution of the scar from the formation stage to the maturation stage and shorten the recovery time; 2) to inhibit the production of abnormal capillaries on the scar surface and prevent the “redness” phenomenon on the scar surface; 3) to consolidate the effect of radiotherapy and avoid recurrence; 4) to promote the recovery of local tissue bulges such as “cat ears” after surgery.
