Clinically, there is no such thing as “acupoints are best for resolving phlegm”, and the acupoints for resolving phlegm include Fenglong and Tiantu.
Fenglong: located on the lateral side of the lower leg, 8 inches above the tip of the ankle, the outer edge of the tibialis anterior muscle, one transverse finger outside the mouth of the strip. It can stop cough and calm asthma, resolve phlegm and open the orifices (opening the orifices of the heart and restoring sanity by removing phlegm evil), and move qi and blood. It can be used for headache, dizziness, epilepsy, cough, phlegm, lower limb paralysis (weakness, numbness and pain in the lower limbs), abdominal distension and constipation.
Tian Tu: Located in the anterior neck area, in the center of the upper fossa of the sternum, on the anterior median line. It can promote the lungs to stop coughing (stopping coughing by promoting lung qi), lowering the rebelliousness and stopping vomiting (stopping the upward rush of stomach qi and stopping vomiting), and resolving phlegm and dispersing knots. It can be used for cough, asthma, chest pain, sore throat, violent mute (sudden loss of voice), gall qi, prunus qi (similar to pharyngeal allodynia), and choking.
Patients are advised to choose the appropriate acupoints for treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
