Diverticula of the ascending colon is a benign disease of the colon, which is not common in clinical practice, and is divided into true diverticula and pseudodiverticula. The only way to diagnose ascending diverticula is by colonoscopy or barium enema, and most of them are characterized by pain and discomfort in the right side of the abdomen, and in severe cases, bleeding or even bloody stools. Usually, when the diameter does not exceed 1 cm, no treatment is needed, regular observation and close follow-up. If the diverticulum is more than 1.5 cm in diameter, or if there are recurrent episodes of diverticulitis or even diverticular bleeding, surgery can be considered. Surgical options include simple diverticulectomy, partial resection of the colon, or even right hemicolectomy.
