What does arterial calcification mean?

Arterial calcification refers to the decrease in elasticity, brittleness and hardening of arterial vessels, which can easily cause deficiencies in blood supply. Calcification can lead to wall hardening and lumen narrowing, and cause a series of secondary diseases. The key to calcification of blood vessels is to pay attention to lifestyle changes, including paying attention to rest, avoiding strain, low-fat and low-salt diet, avoiding overfeeding, controlling weight, and quitting smoking and drinking. In terms of diet, eat more vegetables and fruits; in terms of medication, mainly apply anti-platelet aggregation drugs and statins to adjust blood lipids. Coronary artery calcification is one of the manifestations of atherosclerosis. Local calcification mostly appears in the area of significant local coronary artery stenosis, and mild or moderate stenotic plaques, which are more likely to rupture and lead to coronary syndrome.
