Sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome, commonly known as snoring and snoring, is a sleep breathing disorder of unknown origin. The main clinical manifestation is snoring during nighttime sleep with apnea and daytime sleepiness. Due to nocturnal apnea, it causes recurrent episodes of hypoxemia, which can easily lead to hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, and psychosomatic disease, or complicate traffic accidents, and even sudden death at night, so sleep apnea is a killer at night and potentially fatal sleep breathing disease. Sleep respiratory disease, the pathogenesis is mainly due to the narrowing and obstruction of the upper airway, that is, during sleep, because the nose, such as nasal septal deviation, inferior turbinate hypertrophy, or tonsil hypertrophy, soft palate, long, thick and long suspensory, or large tonsils, may lead to the narrowing and obstruction of the upper airway, in addition to obesity, the elderly are also prone to sleep apnea. For sleep apnea treatment, the following aspects need to be taken into account, first of all, polysomnography monitoring needs to be done in the hospital to see the number of sleep apnea at night, the structure of sleep, blood oxygenation, cardiac and blood pressure. We also need to determine which type of sleep apnea it is, central, obstructive or mixed, and give different treatment plans according to the different types. For non-surgical treatment, we need to pay attention to: 1) weight loss; 2) sleep in the lateral position; 3) smoking and alcohol cessation; 4) oral appliances for mild to moderate sleep apnea, and surgical treatment options for moderate to severe sleep apnea. In addition, we recommend a better treatment method, called continuous positive airway pressure ventilation treatment, which is usually wear a sleep ventilator during sleep, which is currently the first line of treatment recommended internationally.
