Survival rate after surgery for progressive gastric cancer

Generally speaking, the survival rate of stomach cancer after surgery is about 40%, which mainly refers to the 5-year survival rate, and the observation period of follow-up is mainly 5 years. If the patient survives within 5 years, he/she is basically considered as a survivor. Therefore, the 5-year survival rate of 40% means that about 40 out of 100 patients can survive after 5 years of gastric cancer surgery. The survival rate of gastric cancer surgery is very much related to whether the postoperative treatment is standardized or not, whether adjuvant chemotherapy is given or not, and also very much related to the patient’s mental state. If the patient is well-conditioned, he or she may survive for a longer period of time, and the chance of recurrence will be small. If the conditioning is not good, the chance of recurrence will be high and the quality of life will gradually decline. Therefore, the treatment of tumor is a comprehensive treatment after surgery, and no treatment can be easily neglected.
