American ginseng, which is known as “western ginseng” in Chinese medicine, has the effect of tonifying qi and nourishing yin, clearing heat and generating fluids; dendrobium has the effect of benefiting the stomach and generating fluids (by replenishing the fluids in the stomach to nourish the stomach), and nourishing yin and clearing heat (to nourish the yin essence and clear away the heat evils). However, taking it in water does not bring the medicinal properties into full play and has little therapeutic effect, so it cannot be used as a substitute for medication. 1. Dendrobium enters the stomach and kidney meridians, with the effects of generating fluids to quench thirst (promoting the production of fluids to alleviate thirst) and nourishing stomach yin, it can treat heat and thirst, dry throat and mouth, poor appetite, dry vomiting caused by fever and fluid injury; it can also nourish the kidney yin and reduce the deficiency fire, and can treat darkness of the eyes, impotence of the muscles and bones and bone vaporization and laborious fever due to deficiency of liver and kidney yin (insufficient yin in the liver and the kidneys).
