Bone tumors are tumors that occur in the skeletal system, and there are two categories: primary and secondary, among which there are benign, malignant and tumor-like lesions. Because most surgeons in primary hospitals and most large general hospitals in China lack specialized training in bone tumors, many patients are not treated properly and effectively. Bone tumors are complex and variable, easy to be missed, and the treatment has its own special characteristics. Neglecting the standardized clinical diagnosis and treatment is serious: some patients need to be treated again after non-standardized diagnosis and treatment, and the postoperative pathological diagnosis does not match the surgical treatment requirements; some patients end up losing their limbs or even their lives because of the lack of diagnosis and treatment. Based on the clinical situation, Professor Li Jianmin, the leader of bone tumor department in Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, has been calling for years in the academic circle to pay attention to the standardization of clinical diagnosis and treatment of bone tumor, and believes that it is important to popularize the treatment standard. As a famous bone tumor expert in China, a member of Bone Tumor Group of Orthopedic Branch of Chinese Medical Association, a member of Standing Committee of Sarcoma Specialized Committee of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and a leader of Bone Metastasis Group, Prof. Li Jianmin believes that the standardization of bone tumor clinical diagnosis and treatment should pay attention to the combination of clinical, imaging and pathology in diagnosis, improve the accuracy of diagnosis, reduce the rate of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis, and according to the characteristics of different bone tumors, combine pathology, imaging, tumor invasion site, and the clinical diagnosis and treatment of bone tumors. According to the characteristics of different bone tumors, pathology, imaging, surgical grading, tumor invasion site and the presence of metastasis and other indicators should be considered comprehensively to select appropriate surgical methods, surgery should strictly follow the surgical boundary, and reasonable adjuvant treatment should be selected in the perioperative period, and the clinical diagnosis and treatment standardization of bone tumors should be promoted at different levels nationwide, which is significant to improve the diagnosis and treatment level of bone tumors.
