What are the risks of retinal detachment surgery

Retinal detachment surgery, i.e., retinal detachment reset surgery, after which patients can develop secondary glaucoma, retinal re-detachment, endophthalmitis and other risks.
1. Secondary glaucoma: After retinal detachment restoration surgery, because of intraocular fillers or ocular inflammation, patients may experience increased intraocular pressure, and if the intraocular pressure is not well controlled, patients may develop secondary glaucoma.
2. Retinal detachment again: if the patient is lying down improperly after the operation or the condition is serious, even if the retinal detachment reset operation is performed, some of the patients have poor retinal reset after the operation, and there is the possibility of retinal detachment again, which needs to be corrected by the second operation.
3. endophthalmitis: after retinal surgery, patients may also have eye infections, causing endophthalmitis, patients may have eye pain, vision loss, and in severe cases, blindness.
It is recommended that patients with retinal detachment should follow the doctor’s instructions, have regular checkups, and consult the doctor in time when discomfort occurs.
