Scars from cleft lip and palate of more than twenty years can be repaired. Usually, medication, laser treatment and surgery can be taken to repair the scars. 1. Medication:For small scars, glucocorticoids (trimethoprim) + fluorouracil can be used for local injection to induce vasoconstriction of the scar and inhibit the proliferation of fibrous tissues, so as to treat the scar. 2. Laser treatment: Through high-energy laser treatment, the local tissue will be necrotic, crusted and fall off by itself, so as to repair the scar. 3. Surgery: For hyperplastic scars or those who are not well treated with medication or laser therapy, surgery can be taken to remove the scars. Surgical treatments include localized flap transfer repair and soft tissue skin expansion. It is recommended that patients repair cleft lip and palate scars under the guidance of a professional physician, not blindly self-medication.
